An Abuja Senior Magistrates’ Court in Wuse Zone 2 on Wednesday sentenced a driver, Abdullahi Salihu, 30, of Durumi phase three, to one month in prison for stealing a phone.
Salihu was arraigned for theft.
The Magistrate, Mrs Folashade Oyekan, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
Oyekan gave the convict an option of N5,000 fine.
The case was reported at the Garki Police Station by the prosecutor, Sgt. Ambi Ayuba, he told the court that Mr Sunny Ebube of No. 5 Bode close, Garki II, who worked as his driver stole the phone valued at N68,000.
He said during investigation, the accused admitted to stealing the phone.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the Penal Code.
In his plea for leniency, the convict urged the court to forgive him.
“I willl not commit this crime again. Help me beg my boss to forgive me too for stealing from him.
“He was a good man. It was the devil’s work.”
