Convicted Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, says two clerics warned him about trouble involving women and possible legal problems before his imprisonment, but he ignored their advice.
The actor named the clerics as Prophetess Abimbola Ajayi, founder of Love of Christ Generation Church (Cherubim and Seraphim), and Pastor Israel Ogundipe, founder of Genesis Global Ministry, popularly known as Genesis.
Baba Ijesha made this known during an interview with Dele Adeyanju on Agabletu TV. The interview was shared on the station’s YouTube channel on Sunday.
How Prophetess Ajayi warned him
Recounting his meeting with Ajayi, the actor said he visited her church in the United Kingdom while on a trip for shows.
He said he was preparing to catch a train when his promoter persuaded him to attend a church programme. Ajayi later asked to speak with him.
According to Baba Ijesha, the cleric warned him about women, particularly someone with a short and dark complexion.
“The Spirit of God told me to warn you about women,” he recalled her saying.
“She said the Spirit of God told her that I should beware of a short, dark-complexioned person.
“She said I would run into trouble and face legal issues, and that I should pray hard so that a lie that looks like the truth would not happen to me,” he added.
The actor said he was surprised by the warning and asked what he could do to avoid the predicted trouble.
Ajayi reportedly advised him to seek prayers from elders at her church after returning to Nigeria.
“She said they could not do anything about it, that it was only prayers. She said the only thing we could do was for me to go to her church so she could get the elders to pray over those things,” he said.
However, Baba Ijesha admitted that he did not follow her advice, although he later tried to contact her.
What he said about Pastor Ogundipe
The actor also recounted an encounter with Ogundipe, whom he described as someone who had shown him affection.
“If you see real prophets, prophets who are sent by God, you will understand,” he said.
Background
Baba Ijesha’s account comes years after his conviction over the sexual assault and indecent treatment of a child.
A Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja convicted him in July 2022. He received five and three years’ imprisonment for the offences, with both terms running concurrently.
