Emeka Rollas apologises to Regina Daniels, Ned Nwoko over last year’s marital crisis

Emeka Rollas, former president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), has apologised to Regina Daniels and her husband, Ned Nwoko, over his remarks during their marital crisis last year.

Rollas shared the apology on Instagram on Thursday. He said he regretted the timing and manner of his comments after reflecting on how he handled the matter.

“At the time, I believed strongly in the issues I raised and had my reasons for speaking. But today, looking back, I must honestly admit I regret the timing, the platform and the manner in which I handled it,” he wrote.

Why Rollas spoke about the crisis

In November, Rollas weighed in on the marital crisis between Daniels and Nwoko, the senator representing Delta North. He said the actress needed help.

The former AGN president claimed he had witnessed Nwoko raise concerns about Daniels’ smoking habit. He also said some of the incidents cited by the senator happened in his presence.

Rollas maintained that he spoke out of concern for the actress’s wellbeing. He said he had no intention of ridiculing or disgracing her.

He also criticised Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko and Sanni Danji. According to him, they knew about the situation but failed to speak out.

Rollas also tackled Rita Daniels, Regina’s mother, over the AGN leadership contest. He further commented on Nwoko’s role as chairman of the guild’s board of patrons.

Rollas extends apology to colleagues

Reflecting on the controversy, Rollas said he had worked with many of the people he mentioned and considered some of them friends. He acknowledged that his remarks came while a family was going through a difficult period.

He also recalled a recent encounter with Rita Daniels. Some people tried to reconcile them during the meeting, giving him another chance to reflect on his actions.

Rollas extended his apology to the Daniels family, Nwoko, the AGN Board of Trustees and the colleagues he mentioned.

“So today, without excuses or conditions, I sincerely apologise: to Mrs Rita Daniels and the Daniels family. To Senator Prince Ned Nwoko and his family. To Regina Daniels,” he wrote.

“To the AGN Board of Trustees. And to Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko, Sanni Danji, Agility, Nazareth Jesse, my former aides and every colleague whose name I mentioned. I am sorry.

“Whether or not anyone chooses to accept my apology is entirely their decision. I am making it because, after looking back, I am not proud of how I handled that moment.”

He added that leadership required both the courage to speak and the humility to admit mistakes.

“I may still hold my convictions about some of the issues I raised then, but I take responsibility for my actions and my timing,” he added.

“I am human. I made a mistake. I have reflected. And today, I say sincerely: I am sorry.
