Jordan Pickford careless driving guilty plea has emerged after the England goalkeeper admitted ignoring a give-way sign in Cheshire recently. The Everton goalkeeper drove his blue Lamborghini Urus through Knutsford on April 14, according to court documents released Monday morning.
At a junction with Toft Road, Pickford reportedly ignored give-way markings and pulled into traffic without yielding appropriately to others. Two vehicles then slammed their brakes to avoid a collision, according to evidence presented by Cheshire Police during court proceedings.
Police officer Cecil Ricardo spotted the Lamborghini and activated his lights and siren after witnessing the dangerous manoeuvre unfold nearby. Ricardo said he followed Pickford while driving at 50mph, although the road carried a 30mph speed limit there within Cheshire.
The officer eventually saw Pickford pull over after apparently noticing the pursuing police vehicle behind his Lamborghini on Toft Road. Pickford entered his guilty plea through the Single Justice Procedure and requested a court hearing to present mitigation arguments personally.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper will appear before Chester Magistrates’ Court on December 7 for sentencing following his guilty admission in court. Careless driving can attract three to nine penalty points or potentially a driving ban, depending upon circumstances considered by magistrates.
Pickford currently has 336 Everton appearances and 92 England caps, making him a prominent figure within English football today internationally. His Lamborghini incident occurred during an otherwise busy period following England’s recent international commitments and Everton’s domestic campaign this season.
