Taylor Swift took home Video of the Year at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, while Lisa won Best Pop and Madonna emerged as one of the night’s biggest winners after claiming multiple awards.

The ceremony took place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, with Snoop Dogg serving as the host.

Taylor Swift, Madonna lead major wins

Swift won Video of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia”, beating Ariana Grande’s “Hate That I Made You Love Me”, Bruno Mars’ “I Just Might”, GENER8ION’s “Storm Starring Yung Lean”, Madonna’s “Confessions II – The Film” and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Tears”.

She also won Best Direction for “Opalite”.

Madonna was another major winner at the ceremony, taking home Artist of the Year as well as several awards for “Confessions II – The Film”.

The singer won Best Dance, Best Cinematography and Best Choreography for the video.

Her collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter, “Bring Your Love”, also won Best Collaboration.

Lisa, BTS and other winners

Lisa secured Best Pop for “Dream” featuring Kentaro Sakaguchi.

The BLACKPINK star beat Ariana Grande, Charli xcx, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McRae and Taylor Swift in the category.

BTS won both Song of the Year and Best K-Pop for “Swim”.

Cardi B featuring Kehlani won Best Hip-Hop for “Safe”, while Bruno Mars took Best R&B for “I Just Might”.

Bad Bunny won Best Latin for “NUEVAYoL”, while Ella Langley claimed Best Country for “Choosin’ Texas”.

Olivia Rodrigo won Best Alternative for “The Cure”, while Sienna Spiro took home Best New Artist.

PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson’s “Stateside + Zara Larsson” won Best Art Direction, while Sabrina Carpenter’s “House Tour” took Best Editing.

Ariana Grande won Best Visual Effects for “Hate That I Made You Love Me”.

Special honours and full winners list

The ceremony also featured special honours outside the main competitive categories.

Nirvana received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, while Taylor Swift became the first recipient of the Artist Director honour.
