Olivia Miles has been named AP Rookie of the Year, capping an outstanding debut season with Minnesota Lynx and historic league records. The Minnesota guard earned recognition after consistently producing impressive numbers while helping the Lynx maintain one of basketball’s strongest regular-season records.
Miles entered the WNBA as the second overall selection in the 2026 Draft, joining Minnesota with enormous expectations. Throughout her rookie campaign, she averaged 19.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 6.0 assists across 38 regular-season appearances.
Additionally, Miles became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 650 points and 200 assists within just 32 games. Earlier this season, the talented guard also set a rookie record by making eight three-pointers during Minnesota’s victory over Golden State.
Her scoring surge continued late in September, when Miles surpassed Caitlin Clark’s previous WNBA rookie scoring record with another impressive performance. Miles entered that game tied with Clark at 769 points before moving ahead during Minnesota’s victory over Connecticut.
Beyond scoring, Miles provided consistent playmaking throughout Minnesota’s campaign, ranking among the league’s leading rookie performers in multiple statistical categories. The AP recognition adds another major achievement to a season that established Miles among basketball’s most prominent emerging young stars.
Notably, Miles also earned selection to the AP All-WNBA First Team alongside established stars including A’ja Wilson and Caitlin Clark. Her AP Rookie of the Year honor reflects a remarkable first season that combined scoring, playmaking, records, and consistent performances.
