Nigerian actor Akinyoola Ayoola, better known as Kamo State, has explained why filmmaker Funke Akindele did not attend the premiere of his upcoming film, ‘StarBoy’.
Akindele’s absence sparked reactions on social media. Some users speculated that she and Kamo State were no longer on good terms.
But Kamo State dismissed the rumours in a post on X. He said Akindele missed the premiere because she was out of the country.
“I woke up to see different opinions online about Iyamii and myself,” he wrote.
“Please, we’re on good terms. She missed my premiere simply because she wasn’t in the country and nothing more to it, so please don’t assume otherwise.
“We’ve spoken about it, and she’s going to support this film. I’d appreciate it if our personal relationship is not speculated on.
“Let’s keep our focus on the film; STARLOMO is coming this Friday. See y’all at the box office!”
Kamo State is widely regarded as one of Akindele’s protégés. In May, he described their relationship as a divine blessing and a major turning point in his career.
The actor said Akindele has helped shape his growth in the entertainment industry. He also said she gives him opportunities and pushes him to improve.
Kamo State started his career as a skit maker. He gained attention alongside his former partner Ozain as the ‘Nepa Boys’ before they went solo.
He later became known for his humorous portrayal of a dramatic police officer.
In recent years, Kamo State has moved into acting. He has featured in films including ‘Warlord’, ‘Behind The Scenes’, ‘Abanisete’, ‘Adunni’, ‘EverybodyLoves Jenifa’, and ‘Labake Olododo’.
His latest film, ‘StarBoy’, is set to hit cinemas this Friday.
