Presley Gerber, the model son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, has died at 27.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s records show that Gerber died Sunday at a rehab facility. Authorities have not yet disclosed his cause of death.
“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” a representative told TMZ.
Presley Gerber’s modelling career
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Gerber began modelling at 15 after he signed with IMG Models.
He later appeared in several major campaigns, including a 2018 Pepsi advert with his mother. In 2015, Bruce Weber photographed Gerber and his sister, Kaia Gerber, for CR Fashion Book.
Gerber also featured in a Calvin Klein campaign in 2016. That same year, he made his runway debut at Moschino’s Los Angeles resort show.
In 2019, Beverly Hills police arrested Gerber for driving under the influence. He later received three years’ probation and had to complete a DUI programme.
Gerber spoke openly about his struggles
Gerber later used social media to discuss his mental health and substance use struggles.
In November 2024, he wrote on Instagram that he had started his “Mental Health Mondays” series “to spark real conversations about the stuff most people hide. It’s been incredible seeing how far that message has spread and how many people it’s helped.”
In March, Gerber shared a video on Instagram with the caption “Pre Ibogaine Flood Dose.” The post referred to ibogaine, a psychoactive compound that some people have explored as a treatment for addiction and certain mental health conditions.
“Quiet moment before everything changed,” he wrote. “I was absolutely terrified, and I knew I would be again if I ever had to face something like this (helps to not go into the situations you do that get ya there but that’s life sometimes.)”
He continued: “Letting go of control didn’t come easy, but I trusted there was something bigger than me guiding it. I knew why I was there. I faced what I had been running from, and somewhere in all of it, I started finding my way back to myself …. We shall see…. Praying it’s the last time I have to come back.”
His father, Rande, commented: “I’m so proud of you and your courage.”
Crawford also wrote: “You are a warrior! Walked through the fire to find yourself! So proud!”
Last month, Kaia spoke about her brother’s “decade-long struggle with drug addiction” in an interview with Vogue.
“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” she said.
Kaia also said she felt deeply proud of her brother for being open about his struggles.
Gerber is survived by his parents and sister.
