Tom Cruise has marked 46 years in the movie industry with a retrospective video that highlights some of his most iconic roles and offers fans a first look at his upcoming film, “Digger.”
The video, shared on Tuesday, revisits performances that helped define his career. It features scenes from hit films such as “Top Gun,” “Edge of Tomorrow,” “Rain Man,” “Born on the Fourth of July,” “Risky Business,” and “Jerry Maguire.”
Cruise Reflects on Four Decades of Filmmaking
Cruise used the post to thank the many artists and crew members who have worked with him throughout his career.
“For the last 46 years, it has been my privilege to work alongside countless talented artists and crews to create these characters, stories, and films for you all,” Cruise wrote in the caption of his post. “I’m looking forward to seeing you at the movies!”
The actor remains one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. He is known for blockbuster franchises and performing many of his own stunts.
First Look at ‘Digger’
The retrospective clip ends with new footage from “Digger,” the latest film from Alejandro G. Iñárritu.
Cruise plays Digger Rockwell, an oil baron whose company may have caused an environmental disaster. The crisis could also trigger a nuclear conflict.
The role sees Cruise undergo a major transformation. He appears with a thick Southern accent, a beer belly, and thinning white hair styled in a comb-over.
Star-Studded Cast and Release Date
John Goodman stars as an ailing U.S. president who urges Rockwell to fix the crisis. The cast also includes Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Jesse Plemons.
Warner Bros. describes the project as a “comedy of catastrophic proportions.”
The first trailer for “Digger” will debut on July 13. The film is scheduled to open in cinemas on October 2.
The retrospective video celebrates Cruise’s long-running career while building anticipation for what could become another memorable performance.
