Angela Okorie Explains Why She Set Burial Outfit on Fire

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has explained why she burnt the dress she wore to the burial of late actor Alexx Ekubo.

Ekubo was buried last week in his hometown of Aziukwubwo Ujori village in Arochukwu, Abia State. He died on May 11 after battling stage 4 kidney cancer. He was 40.

In a post on her Instagram story, Okorie said her godmother advised her not to keep clothes worn to a burial.

The actress shared a video showing the outfit being burnt. She wrote: “This is the outfit I wore to Alex’s burial. My Godmother said it is not good to keep the clothes you wore to a burial around you; you should burn them.”

She also wrote: “So family and friends, take note. I felt I should share this information. May the Lord keep and bless us with long life. Amen. Chaiii.”

Okorie shared the explanation months after authorities arraigned her over alleged cyber-related offences.

A court remanded the actress at the Suleja Correctional Centre in January.

Authorities did not disclose details of the allegations. However, industry sources linked the case to her feud with fellow actress Mercy Johnson.

The dispute grew last year after Okorie claimed Johnson was battling “an ailment I do not wish on my enemies”.
