“My Father’s Shadow” Returns to Nigerian Cinemas June 5

After winning over audiences both in Nigeria and abroad, My Father’s Shadow is set to make a return to Nigerian cinemas from June 5, 2026, for a limited re-release in partnership with FilmOne Entertainment.

Directed by Akinola Davies Jr. and co-written by Wale Davies, the film has continued to build momentum following its successful first run. The decision to bring it back to cinemas comes after months of requests from movie lovers who wanted another chance to see the acclaimed project on the big screen.

The film recently enjoyed a major outing at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, taking home top honours including Best Movie, Best Director and Best Writing. Its growing success has also extended beyond Nigeria, with screenings held across the UK, the United States, Canada and other countries.

Praised for its emotional depth, compelling performances and thoughtful storytelling, My Father’s Shadow has sparked conversations among viewers and critics alike, with many describing it as one of the most memorable Nigerian films released in recent years.
