“It’s on for life!” Seun Kuti has ruled out any chance of reconciliation with Wizkid, insisting their feud remains unresolved over comments he considers disrespectful to his father, Fela Kuti.
Speaking on the Selah Meditate Podcast, the Afrobeat singer addressed the ongoing tension that began in January 2026, when online debates comparing Wizkid’s global influence to Fela Kuti’s legacy spiralled into a heated exchange involving fans from both camps.
Dismissing any possibility of making peace, Kuti said, “It’s on for life. You don’t say things about my dad, then it’s fine. There’s no coming back from that.”
The controversy gained momentum after a section of Wizkid’s fan base drew comparisons between the two music icons, prompting Seun Kuti to publicly defend his father’s legacy during a series of Instagram Live sessions. He also accused Wizkid of remaining silent while the situation escalated.
Wizkid later reacted with a post on his Instagram story, claiming to be bigger than Fela Kuti, a statement that sparked widespread reactions and intensified the debate across social media.
The dispute comes at a time when Fela Kuti’s influence is being newly celebrated on the global stage, with the late icon earning a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and becoming the first African solo artist inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
