In her post, Dayo Amusa stated that if she pays for a product or service, it should not be assumed that she will promote or tag the brand in her content. She emphasised that purchasing an item does not automatically translate into endorsement.

โ€œHENCEFORTH!!! If I am paying or I pay for your product or service, donโ€™t expect me to mention or tag you in my post. Also do not use my picture or video on your page for any form of promotional purposes without my consent or permission. If you do, you go hear am. Read that again!!!โ€ she wrote.

The actress also used the opportunity to clarify that her only recognised charity platform is her personal foundation. She warned individuals and organisations not to associate her name or image with any other initiatives without direct approval.

Dayo Amusa, who has built a strong presence in Nollywood over the years, is known not only for her acting career but also for her involvement in philanthropy through her foundation. By drawing a clear line, she appears to be protecting both her brand and her charitable identity.

Her post has drawn mixed reactions from fans and industry observers. While many supporters praised her for setting boundaries and defending her intellectual property, others noted that the entertainment industry often faces recurring issues where public figuresโ€™ images are used without permission to boost sales or credibility.

In recent years, several Nigerian celebrities have spoken out about similar concerns, especially with the rise of social media marketing. Public figures often find their photos reposted on business pages with captions suggesting endorsements that were never agreed upon.

Legal experts have previously highlighted that using someoneโ€™s image without consent for commercial purposes may violate image rights and privacy laws. For celebrities, whose public image is closely tied to their professional brand, such unauthorised promotions can create confusion among fans and damage reputations.

By issuing this warning, Dayo Amusa appears to be reinforcing the importance of consent and contractual agreements in influencer marketing and celebrity partnerships. Her message serves as a reminder that endorsements are typically formal arrangements and not automatic privileges tied to visibility.

As conversations continue online, the actress has made it clear that any violation of her directive will attract consequences. For now, her stance underscores a growing awareness among Nigerian entertainers about protecting their personal brands in an increasingly digital marketplace.
