Alexer Peres, the estranged wife of Nigerian singer Harrysong, has announced that she is temporarily giving custody of their two daughters to the music star, citing emotional exhaustion and prolonged personal distress following their separation.
The announcement was made on Thursday morning via a series of emotional posts and videos shared on her Instagram story, where Peres appeared visibly shaken and in tears. In the video, she explained that the decision followed nearly two years of emotional strain, which she said began after their marriage broke down.

According to Peres, she has been the primary caregiver for the children, aged three and four, since the couple separated in 2024. She disclosed that the girls have been living with her in Asaba, Delta State, where they attend school. However, she said the pressure of parenting alone while dealing with unresolved personal conflicts had become overwhelming.
Peres alleged that the period since the separation has been marked by frequent harassment and unannounced visits, which she said contributed to her deteriorating mental health. She stated that stepping away temporarily was necessary for her to regain stability and focus on rebuilding her life.

In the video, she clarified that the custody arrangement is not permanent. She revealed plans to relocate to Lagos, adding that the separation from her children was not something she desired but a step she felt forced to take for her own wellbeing. She repeatedly emphasized that her decision was about survival, not abandonment.
Alongside the video, Peres shared a strongly worded message expressing deep concern about the safety and treatment of her daughters while in their fatherโs care. In the post, she warned against exposing the children to inappropriate environments or individuals and stressed that they remain minors who deserve protection.

She urged members of the public to hold Harrysong accountable for the childrenโs welfare, stating clearly that her only concern was ensuring nothing harmful happened to them. In her words, she asked that the children not be maltreated and insisted that boundaries be respected around them.
Despite her distress, Peres made it clear that the move was temporary. She stated openly that she intends to come back for her children, framing the decision as a pause rather than a surrender. Her tone throughout the posts suggested emotional fatigue rather than hostility.
The situation has reignited public attention on the long-running and highly publicised fallout between Peres and Harrysong. Since their 2021 wedding, the former couple have repeatedly made headlines over marital disputes. Following their separation in 2024, both parties have, at different times, made public allegations against each other, including claims relating to infidelity and personal conduct.

As of the time of writing, Harrysong has not issued an official public response to Peresโ statements. There has also been no confirmation of any formal court process regarding the custody arrangement, indicating that the decision remains a personal and temporary one.
Online reactions have been swift and divided. While many expressed sympathy for Peres and concern for the childrenโs wellbeing, others called for the matter to be handled privately, away from social media. The development continues to trend across Nigerian entertainment spaces, with conversations centred on parenting, emotional health, and public accountability.
