Skales Warns Social Media Users After Comments About His Daughter’s Resemblance to Wizkid

Nigerian singer Skales has drawn attention online after issuing a firm warning to social media users who made comments involving his daughter and fellow music star Wizkid.

The situation unfolded after Skales shared a photo of himself and his daughter on X (formerly Twitter), referring to her fondly as his “passenger princess.”

What was intended as a warm family moment soon attracted mixed reactions after an X user identified as @WisdomCN commented on the child’s appearance, comparing her physical resemblance to Wizkid.

The remark did not sit well with the singer, who responded sharply and made it clear that his family should be kept out of online jokes and commentary.

In a strongly worded reply, Skales wrote:

“You see if una wan dey do una nonsense’s no bring am near my family… you no go like wetin I go do you…”

The response quickly gained traction across social media, drawing a wave of reactions from fans and observers. While some users argued that the comment made by @WisdomCN was harmless and possibly meant as a compliment, many others supported Skales’ position, insisting that children should never be dragged into celebrity comparisons or online conversations involving public figures.

The timing of the incident also played a role in the attention it received. Wizkid’s name has recently dominated public discourse following an intense online exchange with Seun Kuti, caused by comparisons between Wizkid and Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. That ongoing debate has already made discussions around celebrity legacy and comparisons especially sensitive.

Skales and Wizkid also share a professional history, having both risen to fame under Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) during the early stages of their careers. Although their paths have since diverged, public references linking the two artists continue to draw strong reactions online, often reopening old narratives among fans.

For Skales, however, the message was clear and direct: his family is off-limits. His response reflects a growing stance among public figures who are becoming more vocal about protecting their children from online scrutiny, unsolicited opinions, and viral commentary.

Public opinion remains divided. Some believe the singer could have ignored the remark, while others feel his reaction was necessary to establish firm boundaries in a digital space where personal lines are often crossed.

Ultimately, the episode highlights a broader issue within social media culture; the need for restraint and respect, especially when conversations involve children who did not choose the public spotlight.
