The Federal Government has commissioned a ₦40 billion CCTV Control Centre for the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State, describing the project as a major upgrade aimed at improving traffic monitoring, security, and emergency response on one of Nigeria’s most heavily used bridges. While officials have praised the initiative as a forward-looking investment, the announcement has also triggered strong reactions from members of the public, particularly on social media.

The control centre, unveiled by officials of the Federal Ministry of Works, is equipped with high-definition surveillance cameras installed across strategic points on the bridge.
