Deji Adeyanju Secures Release of Seun After Social Media Controversy With Alabi Lawrance

Human rights activist and influencer Deji Adeyanju has confirmed the release of Seun, popularly known on X as Small Ralph, from police custody in Lagos State, following his arrest over a series of controversial social media posts. Adeyanju disclosed the development in a post on social media, noting that Seun’s parents were visibly traumatised by the experience.

According to Adeyanju, Seun was released after intervention at the police station, where his mother and father had reportedly been in emotional distress since his arrest. Photos shared online showed the family together shortly after his release, sparking renewed conversation around social media responsibility and police intervention.

What Led to Seun’s Arrest

The arrest of Seun followed a string of tweets made from his X account, Small Ralph, which targeted Motara Lawrence, the wife of businessman Lawrence. Over several days, Seun allegedly published posts implying that Motara Lawrence was barren, comments that many social media users described as deeply offensive and defamatory.

Beyond the tweets, Seun was also accused of creating and circulating a fake AI-generated image portraying Motara Lawrence as pregnant. The image was accompanied by claims suggesting she was expecting a child, which later turned out to be false. The posts gained traction online before being challenged by users who questioned their authenticity.

As the situation escalated, Seun reportedly went further by pushing unverified and misleading narratives about the couple’s private life. These actions triggered public outrage, with many users calling for accountability and urging the authorities to step in, especially due to the personal and sensitive nature of the allegations.

Sources familiar with the matter say the tweets were reported to law enforcement as defamatory and harmful, prompting the Lagos police to invite Seun for questioning. What began as an invitation later resulted in his detention, a move that sparked backlash after it became known that his parents were caught in the middle of the unfolding situation.

Public Reaction and Intervention

News of Seun’s arrest spread quickly on social media, with reactions split between those who condemned his online conduct and those who questioned the necessity of police detention in a social media dispute. Critics of the arrest argued that while the tweets were irresponsible, law enforcement involvement should follow clear legal procedures and safeguards.

It was amid this growing debate that Deji Adeyanju stepped in. The activist confirmed that he personally intervened to ensure Seun’s release, stressing that while accountability is important, the emotional toll on families should not be ignored.

Adeyanju described Seun’s parents as shaken by the ordeal, noting that they had little understanding of how online actions had translated into police action so quickly. His involvement was widely praised by supporters who viewed it as a necessary balance between justice and humane treatment.
