High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has publicly denied claims that he issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government demanding the release of Nnamdi Kanu. He described the widely circulated report as false and the work of opponents seeking to undermine his reputation.

In a statement signed by his media consultant, Dr Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo clarified that he had no involvement with the matter pertaining to Nnamdi Kanu or the alleged ultimatum. He urged the public and media houses to disregard the unfounded publication.
He also reaffirmed his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and his commitment to the government’s agenda, stressing his focus remains on eradicating illegal crude oil activities in the Niger Delta region through his organisation, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.
Why the clarification matters
The fake ultimatum report had been trending on social media, attributing to Tompolo a position that could have politically complicated his relationship with the government and his role in the Niger Delta region. Analysts say the incident highlights how influential figures in the oil sector can become targets of misinformation campaigns.
By issuing the denial, Tompolo has attempted to control the narrative and maintain his public standing as a government ally and stakeholder in regional security. Observers will be watching how the story evolves and whether further attempts to link him to high-profile political issues will surface.
