Influencer and media personality Enioluwa Adeoluwa has taken to social media to shower praise on his mother, Dr Bola Adeoluwa, for reaching a major academic milestone. He announced that she has officially earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) after a long, unconventional journey filled with determination and grit.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Enioluwa reflected on the contrast in public perception between his parents. He noted that while many often highlight his father’s status as a professor, his mother has quietly supported the family behind the scenes. He wrote: “When it comes to academics, everyone always talks about my dad — and rightly so, he’s a Professor. But my mum? She’s not often remembered in that same light…”
The post also revealed details of Dr Adeoluwa’s academic path, which included some unusual steps. At one point she re-sat the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC) to gain a credit in Mathematics, an essential requirement for further study. Later, at the age of 45, she returned to school to pursue another first degree. These efforts eventually led to her acquiring two first degrees, two master’s degrees, a postgraduate diploma (PGD) and now a PhD.

For Enioluwa, his mother’s story is far more than a list of qualifications. He described her as the “quiet force” behind the family’s success, citing moments when she sat through debates, cheered at quiz competitions and attended prize-giving days all while ensuring the children developed resilience, perseverance and strength.
Many fans and followers joined in the celebration on social media, congratulating Dr Adeoluwa and sending messages like “Congratulations, Doctor! absolutely inspiring” and “Wow!!! Incredible mom.”
The story also touches on broader themes around lifelong learning and non-traditional academic pathways. By returning to school later in life and overcoming barriers including needing to rewrite standard exams, Dr Adeoluwa’s journey offers a fresh angle on how education and ambition can evolve at any stage.
