Gunmen Kill Abuja Veterinarian Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, Abduct Three Children in Kubwa Home Invasion

In a tragic and chilling episode, gunmen invaded the residence of Dr Ifeanyi Ogbu, a respected veterinarian based in Abuja, and fatally shot him before abducting his three children. The attack occurred late Friday night in the Kubwa district, along the Kubwaโ€“Kaduna Road, according to multiple sources.

According to local reports, the assailants burst into Dr Ogbuโ€™s home, overpowered security or family members, and took the three children along with him.  The following morning, passersby discovered Dr Ogbuโ€™s body dumped by the roadside.  His family has not yet located the abducted children.

The former chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT chapter, Dr Ogbu was well known in professional circles for his dedication to his work.  He leaves behind a grieving family, including a nursing wife, as well as colleagues in shock over the senseless loss.

One Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu confirmed the death via a post on Facebook, stating: โ€œDr Ifeanyi Ogbu โ€ฆ who was kidnapped alongside his three children โ€ฆ has been found dead. The children are still missing.โ€

As of the time of writing, the FCT Police Command had not released an official statement. Attempts by journalists to reach the police public relations office were unsuccessful; calls and messages went unanswered.  Some sources say investigations are underway but few concrete details have emerged.

This incident adds to a disturbing pattern of violent kidnappings and murders across the Federal Capital Territory and its satellite towns. In recent months, residents in Kubwa and adjacent areas have expressed fears over rising insecurity and have appealed for improved police presence.

With the children still missing, the urgency to locate them and hold the perpetrators accountable has become a priority for both security agencies and the bereaved family. Authorities have not confirmed whether ransom demands were made, or if any arrest has been made.
