The Alliance Franรงaise de Lagos/Mike Adenuga Centre in Ikoyi, Lagos, was the epicenter of influence and excellence on Friday, July 18th, as GLG Communications hosted a resoundingly successful World PR Day Soirรฉe & PR Power List Awards. The landmark event brought together Nigeria’s most distinguished public relations and communications professionals, business and government leaders, as well as global voices in a powerful celebration of the PR industry.
The evening commenced with a compelling keynote address delivered live from the UK by Sarah Waddington CBE, CEO of the PRCA – the world’s largest and most influential professional PR body. Following this, Dr. Ike Neliaku, National President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), delivered a stirring address, issuing a profound call to action to the PR industry and Nigeria at large.
The highlight of the night was the grand unveiling of the Ultimate PR Power List Winners. For the first time, independent jurors meticulously voted from a shortlist of the 2025 PR Power List honorees, recognizing one individual in each category whose impact truly stood out.

โYou will all agree with me that never has our work been more important in this world characterised by geopolitical tensions, economic turbulence and growing trends of authoritarianism, political extremism and conflict,โ stated Sarah Waddington CBE during her keynote. โThe role of all of us as a PR community has to be to engage with parties and broker understanding and agreement between discording parties. At the PRCA, our vision is to lead the global evolution of public relations and public affairs through innovation, excellence, and the highest ethical standards,โ she added.
Dr. Ike Neliaku remarked, “I am very happy to say the World PR Day was initiated by a Nigerian, and now it has become a global brand. Today, we are celebrating 50 people who make the Power List of public relations practice within Nigeria and, to some extent, in the diaspora. I believe it’s a very strong signal that Nigeria is advancing in the practice of public relations.โ
โWhat GLG Communications has done is to draw attention to the importance of relationships, the importance of nexus, the importance of networking, and the importance of understanding that you are as strong as the other person is,โ he added.
