Aproko Doctor Slams JAMB’s Excuse For 2025 UTME Failures

Following its explanation for the widespread failure in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Nigerian physician and fitness advocate Egemba Chinonso Fidelis, also known as Aproko Doctor, has voiced unhappiness with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB’s Registrar, blamed the widespread failure on technical problems that impacted 379,997 candidates at 157 testing locations in Lagos and the South-East.

The board declared that the impacted applicants would be granted another opportunity to take the test, with the retake starting on May 16, 2025.

More than 1.5 million applicants received scores below 200 out of 400, according to the data. While 7,658 candidates (0.39%) received scores between 300 and 319, only 4,756 candidates (0.24%) received scores of 320 and above.

Prof. Oloyede expressed regret for the disappointment and gave the public the assurance that measures are being made to prevent such problems in exams in the future.

However, in an official statement, JAMB said:

“Man proposes, God disposes! It has been established that a technical glitch affected 157 centres out of the 887 centres in the 2025 UTME. This was basically responsible for the general low performance of the candidates scheduled to sit the examination in those centres. As such, all the affected candidates will be contacted to reprint their examination slips towards retaking their examinations starting from 16th May, 2025.”

Also, reacting to the statement, Aproko Doctor posted on social media:

“When you’re asked to describe the anyhowness, show them this tweet from a national agency.”

However, his comment quickly gained attention, resonating with many Nigerians who are frustrated by systemic lapses in national institutions.

See some reactions below:

@lilyjoelily:
“The worst part is that nothing will happen”

@addel_cares:
“With the rate at which Nigeria is going now staying silent will be a big crime to humanity.”

@AgbIvy:
“What a joke of an institution. You want them risk their lives again to write exams?”

@_Icallie:
“Ofcourse, nothing will happen. The absence of accountability has been a major reason for the unchecked misbehavior and incompetence we’ve witnessed in this current government.”

@Olugbuointl:
“That man should step aside immediately. That’s what God is proposing right now.”

@Mrstark_IX:
“C’mon, give the board a break. At least they admitted their errors and trying to rectify the issue.
Imagine INEC issues were sorted like this.”

@ogunsdupe:
“And then there’s a girl who already committed suicide because of her result; who will help her rewrite like this?”

@Chibnwab:
“For the first time I’d say Kudos to Jamb, they know Nigerians, specifically South East will come for them but the still were bold to accept the error. Kudos to them.”

@Dancrusoe10:
“like They literarily siad , …”Man Propose , God Dispose” i know God is shocked in heaven , like He’s like how this one take concern me 😕. 0 accountability”
