“You Can Help The Poor But Not Associate With The Poor” – David Ibiyeomie

Notable clergyman Pastor David Ibiyeomie opines that one should not associate with the poor.

He made this statement following mixed reactions about his previous comment about poverty.

He said that the Holy Spirit visited him during his most recent sermon and further confirmed that what he had said was correct.

David Ibiyeomie argued that one should avoid associating with poverty as one would with sinners.

In order for believers to be wealthy, he pointed out that Jesus had already made himself humble.

His words in part …

“Everybody gets angry when a believer is mixing with sinners, so also is when a believer mixes with the poor, people should be angry. He said I was made poor that you might be rich. So poverty is not of me. He said you can help the poor but not associate with the poor. He said that if you do that you’re saying my de@th and resurrection is in vane. Because I d!ed that you may come out of poverty. Do you like to stay with the sick? Why because Jesus became health for you. Do you like to stay with the poor? He became poor that you can help the poor. That you don’t have money does not mean you’re poor. Poverty is mentality….”

“Jesus literally gave a parable of the rich man and Lazarus 🤦‍♂️”

@EddyConsult:
“What do you rate as rich in a church ? What is and what was the networth of all his members when he started ministry and what are their networth now ? . What is the gold standard to measure poverty , income and who stands a chance for association in a church or society . Who should evangelism be done to , the poor or the rich so that only rich people can make heaven as being poor is cancerous . This again is an incomplete message , although I understand what he is trying to say . The rule stands Jesus healed the sick , fed the poor. Someone poor in cash may not be poor in mindset , some are very innovative when you assess them psychologically and all they need is a push from that rich church or pastor or millionaire , yet this is not done in some churches.”

@Messiwontmiss:
“Jesus taught compassion for the poor, emphasizing their blessedness and the importance of serving them. In Luke 6:20-21, he said, “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.” He also declared his mission to bring good news to the poor in Luke 4:16-19.”

@ambitiousGunner:
“Luke 14:13–14 (KJV):
13 But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
14 And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.”
