VIDEO: Drama As Portable Gets Arrested Again For Alleged Slander Against Saheed Osupa

The Kwara State Police Command has detained Nigerian street-hop sensation Habeeb Okikilola Badmus, better known by his stage name Portable, in connection with a number of defamation-related accusations made by seasoned Fuji musician Saheed Osupa.

Known for his contentious public demeanour, Portable was captured in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday, April 13.

Osupa, whose real name is Okunola Saheed, filed a petition charging the singer of criminal defamation, threats to life, incitement, character assassination, and actions likely to disturb public peace, which led to the arrest.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, “In view of the weight of these allegations and the supporting evidence presented, the command secured a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin.”

Portable moved to Kwara for interrogation

She further revealed that Portable was taken to Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, for interrogation following the arrest, which took place at around 7:25 p.m.

“Upon his arrival, the suspect’s statement was taken in the presence of legal representatives from both parties,” Ejire-Adeyemi stated.

The statement also noted that the charges stem from the use of “abusive and offensive language” allegedly directed at the fuji legend on social media and other public platforms.

Portable is still being held as of this writing. According to the police, plans are in motion to formally charge him in court.

The outspoken artist’s public issues have frequently eclipsed his musical career, and this arrest represents yet another legal run-in.
