The congratulatory messages continue to flood in for Nigeria’s two-time Grammy Award winner, Temilade Openiyi aka Tems. A message shared on social media via President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s handle has got people talking.
In his congratulatory post, President Tinubu hailed Tems record achievement as the first female Afrobeats singer to win the Grammy Award and the first Nigerian to win it twice.
President Tinubu noted that he was proud of Tems and the global recognition of her musical talent. He also sent a message of love and encouragement to the other Nigerian artists nominated in different groups at the 67th Grammy Awards.
He noted that he was proud of all of them while asking them to continue to sell their crafts in ways that put Nigeria on the global map in the best light.

Gov Sanwo-Olu congratulates Tems for her Grammy win
The Lagos State governor shared a message on his handle noting how immensely proud he was of Tems’ latest achievement. He hailed the female singer for being the first Nigerian to win the newly created Best African Music Performance category.
Gov Sanwo-Olu also shared his thoughts about Tems musical artistry and how her dedication continues to be a great reflection of the “Naija can-do spirit.”
The governor also sent a special message to the other Nigerian artists nominated at the 67th Grammy Awards and didn’t win. He hailed them all and noted that Lagos state and the country at large continue to be proud of them.
