Nigerian rapper and singer, Panshak Zamani, famously known as Ice Prince, has opened up about his prison experience.
In September 2022, a Lagos State magistrate court remanded the singer to the Ikoyi Correctional Centre for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
He regained his freedom after fulfilling his bail conditions.
Speaking about the experience in the latest episode of the โListenโ podcast, Zamani said going to jail was a horrible experience.
He said, โWhatever story you were told is not what happened. The case is over now, so I can talk about it. I spent six days in jail.
I didnโt get preferential treatment. It’s a prison, so there was no preferential treatment. Iโm not talking about a police cell.
โI have seen a lot of celebrities and public figures who went to police cells come out to brag as if they went through some sht.
If youโve never been to prison, you ainโt seen sht yet. I canโt explain it. Itโs a different world. I donโt pray for my worst enemy to experience it.
You have to be careful out there because mistakes can take you there. There are so many innocent people there. It wasnโt a good experience.โ
But I made friends in there. We hung out, chatted. Itโs a different institution of higher learning.โ
On what led him to prison, Ice Prince claimed he was only joking with the police officer he allegedly assaulted when he drove off after the officer entered his car during a stop-and-search operation.
