In a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, veteran Nigerian comedian Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, widely known as Alibaba, disclosed surprising details about the staggering wealth of skit maker Mark Angel, asserting him as one of the wealthiest comedians in the country.
Alibaba unveiled that Mark Angel reportedly rakes in an impressive $300,000 per month, primarily through earnings from YouTube and Facebook. Despite this substantial income, Alibaba highlighted that Angel’s unassuming demeanor and lack of ostentation often lead many to underestimate his wealth.
“Some people still don’t believe Mark Angel is one of the richest comedians. Until somebody then hears how much YouTube, and Facebook pay him every month. You hear someone is making up to $300,000 a month. And you are like, ‘Is it not that guy that wears big shorts and acts crazy?”
Alibaba expressed frustration at the public’s tendency to associate wealth more readily with professions like politics, banking, or oil, suggesting that had Mark Angel been in any of those fields, his affluence would be unquestioned.
He advised people to stop looking down on the comedy profession.
