The City of Atlanta has proclaimed November 18 as Davido’s Day after his massive shut-down of the city during the AWAY festival.
The news was shared in a tweet by Davido, and with a signed copy of the declaration, it read:
“November 18th is now proclaimed as ‘Davido’s Day’ in the city of Atlanta Congratulations, @davido”
The Nigerian music sensation made waves at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta during his highly anticipated “Are We African Yet?” Festival (#AWAYFestival).
Held on Saturday, November 18th, 2023, the event attracted Nigerian celebrities and fans who travelled all the way to Atlanta, Georgia for the spectacular show.
The inaugural edition of the A.W.A.Y. Festival, hosted by veteran comedian Bovi, featured thrilling performances by top Afrobeats artists such as Adekunle Gold, MayorKun, Musa Keys, Spinall, Victony, King Promise, Lo Jay, E Cool, and TXC.
Expressing his excitement before hitting the stage, Davido tweeted, “ATLANTA! A.W.A.Y. Festival is here! I’ve been dreaming of this moment for a long, long time. To never have played my own show in Atlanta and then have our first one be the festival I’m throwing at @StateFarmArena feels perfect to me. Let’s have a TIMELESS night we’ll never forget.”
