Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjær has talked about the prospect of facing Messi in the Champion’s League Quarter Final.
“He will be difficult to stop, but it’s never impossible.” the United manager reckons.
“What kind of plan can you have to stop one of the best in the world?” he said. “He’s a fantastic player. He will go down in history as one of the best ever.
He also believes his team are prepared for the Argentine having faced other world class players during the course of the season.
“This season we played against Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe and had Eden Hazard for Chelsea,” said the Norwegian. “And Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho and Messi will keep our defenders on their toes. Let’s see how we manage tomorrow.”
He also warned his players not to focus too much on Messi because Barcelona has other players that could hurt them.
“It’s not like Messi against Man United. Suarez, Coutinho, Arturo Vidal – there are so many good players. We can’t focus on one, we have to focus on eleven of them.
“Of course when you get Barcelona, with the quality of their team, we know we need to step up our game.
“They have moments of magic, we have to concentrate. Wherever we are we have to concentrate for 90 minutes-plus. If your concentration drops for a second you will be punished.
“The Champions League throws up so many strange results. It’s not going to be decided until we play 90 minutes in the Nou Camp.
“We just have to make sure we perform to our best and have a result to take over to Barcelona.”
