Serena Williams beat World No. 1, Simona Halep to qualify for her 50th Grand Slam Quarter final.
It is the the first time Serena, will face a world number one since her return to action in spetember 2017 after giving birth.
The 37-year-old American beat the top seed 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 to set up a quarter final clash with eighth seed, Karolina Pliskova.
“It was an intense match and there were some incredible points,” Williams said.
“She’s the number one player in the world and there’s a reason why… (but) I’m such a fighter, I just never give up,” she added.
Serena, seeded 14th, is looking to win a record 24th grand slam and is now one of the favourite to win her eighth Australian open title.
