The Chelsea star has revealed he texted Jose Mourinho apologising for his poor form after he was sacked by the club.
The Belgian maestro told, The Guardian he felt guilty that he hadn’t replicated his form that won him Player of the Year last season, and was sorry he couldn’t help the team get better results.
โI sent him the message to say I was sorry he had gone and โฆ well โฆ just that I was sorry,โ Hazard said.
โWeโd enjoyed all that success together last season, but this time round we hadnโt. I felt a little bit guilty because Iโd been player of the year. Iโd been one of the most decisive players, and this year Iโd performed less well.”
Hazard, who had previously netted 28 goals in his last two seasons at Stamford Bridge, has so far failed to find the target in a strange campaign where the Champions have been stuck in mid table, and the 25-year-old admits he cannot put his finger on what has gone wrong at Chelsea.
โI hadnโt been at the same level. So I sent that text to Josรฉ and he came back to me, wishing me all the best for the future. For a team of champions to go through what we have this year even I canโt explain.
