Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, the Minister of State for petroleum resources has revealed that two Nigerian refineries will commence production before the end of the year.
Nigeria has four refineries which are notorious for their ineffectiveness and operational issues.
Dr. Ibe Kachikwu disclosed at the National Assembly today that two of the of four refineries will begin operations in two weeks.
His announcement is undoubtedly encouraging given the recent fuel scarcity which has held the nation in its grip.
He also disclosed that the government is also making efforts to woo private investors to establish new refineries. Getting Nigeria’s refineries back on track is seen as the only viable solution to yearly fuel shortages.
Dr. Kachikwu did not however state which of the refineries will commence operations before the end of December.
