Japanese scientist Takaaki Kajita as well as Canadian scientist Arthur McDonald are this year’s recipients of the Nobel Prize for physics.
The committee for the Nobel Prize began the announcement of winners yesterday in an event that is to last all week long.
This year’s Nobel Prize in physics was awarded to the duo for their groundbreaking research on Neutrinos, which are particles of light about which relatively nothing was known until recently.
Their research has proves that Neutrinos have mass and do not disappear on their path from the sun to the earth as was previously believed.
The duo will share a prize money of $960,000.
