Blow trumpet* oh yes, it’s my very first write-up of #AMEBOTIME exclusive to OSG.
Moving on – The Hip Hop World Awards popularly known as the Headies has released nominees for the awards in 2015 and ever since news via blogs and entertainment sites dropped, social media was never the same again.
News and reports say while Iyanya fought for a particular Dj Coublon to be included in the grammys sorry Headies, Instagram Artiste and loved by OAP, Osi and Video Director, Kemi Adetiba, Vic O has lashed out at The Headies committee for not including him in the nominees’ list – also Solid star has no chill anymore as he wants one more nomination *sigh*
We are sure more news are going to come up, but we are very interested in the Next Rated act category where Mavin acts, Reekado Bankz and Korede Bello, “German Juice” Cynthia Morgan, One time hit maker, Kiss Daniel and YBNL’s Lil Kesh made the nominee list.
According to the Headies, this is a voting category which is based under review for the most promising upcoming act in the year and mind you, this is also based on hip hop = The street kind of attraction!
Let’s reveal our Top Three
We realised these up and coming acts have been well grounded in the music industry, very innovative and have a great fan base, which I think is largely part of this nomination.
Let’s begin – and
At number 3 – Korede Bello – One time Korede Bello used to hang out with Alternative act, GT Guitarman and even performed at several shows, always seen with his guitar and has a silky voice – his career and life pretty much changed when he got signed to the Mavin records.
He released singles like “African Princess” and the very viral “GODWIN” which has put him on the spotlight! The streets love the song and even the older audience like the song – most can either identify with the song “GODWIN” or the music artiste. However, I am not sure whether Korede Bello beats the next Act on Number two!
At Number Two – well, you could call him his rival (lol) but let’s face it, the music industry creates some sort of challenge and competition especially when it involves two acts singing the same genre or in the same market and it’s Reekado Bankz – for one as a strategist and researcher – Reekado Bankz has a crazy fan base, especially on twitter.
More of his fans say he sounds like wizkid, others conclude he brings an eclectic vibe to the table. He has released singles including his very own hit “Katapot” which was endorsed by International rapper, Wale Folarin. The question is – how many people think Reekado Bankz deserves to win the next rated act.
Before I mention number one – Nigerian Twitter is still ballistic about the various categories in the nominations, especially this one and hence let me clear the air – yes, Adekunle Gold should have been nominated in the next rated category (note to his fans, you can fight for him as Iyanya did for DJ Coublon and Ubi did for “Oreo”) but Adekunle aka photoshop king has just started and it’s going well, let him grow first, just as Simi too was not in this category.
Alright at number one – Cynthia Morgan…no! It’s Lil Kesh – now I must say Lil Kesh is very promising, more promising than Kiss Daniel – he started with “Shoki” the song went viral and he started the real “shoki” trend and now he has some other singles like “Gbese” –still a hot song in the streets and “efejoku” featuring Vitoh! Now, don’t be surprised, he is currently the streets’ favorite –if you don’t believe, walk down to your nearest street and wait by a common barber’s shop –his song will definitely be played and you see people’s reaction.
I admire Lil Kesh because he has the Olamide’s spirit and drive – I am sure as Olamide sees this he will smile and confirms I am right.
My conclusion: Lil Kesh is as stronger than any other nominees in this category, I think he might win this spot –or if The headies pick based on Rap alone then Cynthia Morgan might win this, Reekado Bankz has a stronger influence (due to his fans) but it’s based all on vote.
Let’s see if I am right!

I hope Lil’Kesh wins the next rated award, Reekado got it last year. As for Korede, I don’t see him surpassing Reekado, Cynthia Morgan or Kiss Daniel.
