Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi has failed in his bid to prevent the government of Nyesom Wike from probing him.
A state High Court sitting yesterday quashed a suit filed by the former governor challenging the present administration to set up a Judicial panel of inquiry to probe his actions while he served as governor.
The present administration has made no secret of its willingness to probe Amaechi and constituted a panel led by Justice George Omereji. In dismissing Amaechi’s application, the court ruled that the Judicial panel was to probe his official actions while he was governor and not his personal life.
Justice Simeon Amadi pointed out that there was no law preventing an administration from trying to find out how much was spent by the previous administration.
