Cholera; a disease of the small intestine and is primarily transmitted by drinking contaminated water or food has hit Anambra state.
Reports indicate that no fewer than eight people have died in Anambra state even as the government finds itself faced with a health emergency of escalating proportions.
The Anambra state commissioner of health has said that the government is on top of the situation and has deployed a team of medical personnel to help bring the situation under control. The commissioner told the News Agency of Nigeria that; “We discovered that it was not a full blown cholera but gastroenteritis common in children under five years.
“Gastroenteritis is an infection of the intestines which causes diarrhea. In most cases, the infection clears within a few days, but sometimes it takes longer”.
I am in Anambra, the people of Anambra west have been complaining & calling on government for eradication of cholera there before now, they went on deaf ears.
Now that it has claimed lives there, they now start acting? Anyway…
