The star studded Hennessey Artistry 2013 club tour was enviable, maybe because it is 2013, a competitive year for music in Nigeria and maybe because D’Banj, the renowned entertainer was the headliner. D’Banj is lively and very entertaining. His boldness has no bound and when he was in France, there was a feel that D’Banj had arrived, unlike previous headliners.
And to know that the club tour has finally concluded would be bad news for those who had followed the tour diligently, from Rhapsody Lounge in Victoria Island, Lagos to Crescendo Nightclub in Ikeja. It was weeks of tours and good music in clubs. Musical acts that were on the train: Phyno, Chidinma, Sean Tizzle, Raskimono etc. had fun. D’Banj, the headliner missed in action in VI due to a flight delay from London but it has since been a perfect outing.
While next year is awaited, followers of music in Nigeria would want to predict who would replace D’Banj as next year’s headliner. Would it Phyno, who is fast rising with very unique rap delivery or Burna Boy who is currently a delicious piece of cake, especially for the ladies who recently saw him in under pants at Felabration? Iyanya and Kecee are possible options. These two are different. While Iyanya may be versatile, it will take another Limpopo to put Kecee on the contender’s list.

The ladies are not out of predictions. Chidinma and Waje are possible considerations. Waje is energetic and spirited, Chidinma is talented but somewhat on the reserved side. The ever glowing Wizkid and the recently controversial Davido with the handsome Dammy Krane are hot blooded predictions. Besides, we may be tired of too much maturity. We may just want to fool around for a while. So far, Ice Prince, Eldee, MI, Naeto C, Banky W and Tiwa Savage have headlined. Next’s year’s may just be me.
