Lagos Firecracker Store Update: 1 killed, 40 injured, 12 houses Burnt, 10 Cars Razed
The Lagos explosion is believed to have been caused by bangers. The incident happened on December 26th, 2012 at Idumota, Lagos Island where an explosion occurred.
The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed that one person died from the explosion, while 40 others sustained minor injuries.
Witnesses said the dead body was recovered after the explosion. About 10 houses were severely destroyed by the explosion in the Idumota area of Lagos. Fire fighters are still struggling to put out the inferno.
A spokesperson of the Lagos Fire and Safety Services said that they arrived 30 minutes after the explosion but the crowd at the scene hindered their operation.
