Mokgadi Caster Semenya was born on the 7th of January 1991 in Pietersburg now known as Polokwane. As a child, she attended Nthema Secondary School and had a degree in Sport Science from the University of North West.
As a young sport star from South Africa, Caster won the Gold medal in the women’s 800 metres at the 2009 world championship. In 2011, she won the silver medal at the world championship. She was chosen to carry the country’s flag during the opening ceremony of the 2012 summer Olympics, where she also win a gold medal in the 800 metre events.
Going further in her career with much determination, Caster also won the Gold medal in the 800 metre event at the 2016 summer Olympics. As a reward for her hardworking, she was awarded the South African Sports Woman Of the Year at the SA sports awards in Sun City, in 2012. In 2016, it was also announced that she was shortlisted for the 2016 Women’s World Athlete if the Year by IAAF. She has won over 15 gold medals in the course of her career as an Athlete.
She is married to her long term partner; Violet Raseboya.
