Alternative-Soul music act, Emmanuel Bezhiwa Idakula, popularly known as BEZ, hosted an album listening party at FUSE Lounge, Victoria Island, where tracks on his sophomore album were played and performed live.
The event was attended by a host of stars and media personalities including Cobhams Asuquo, Seyi Shay, Falz, Olisah Adibua, Audu Maikori, Toke Makinwa, Timi Dakolo, Kunbi Oyelese, Tito Idakula, Kaylah Oniwo, Makida Moka and Ozzy Agu, and many more.
Produced by Cobhams Asuquo, the “Gbagyi Child” album features diverse sounds with different origins and stories.
While some of the songs were made by infusing the traditional drums sounds obtained in Bez’s village in Nassarawa, he also worked with Beyonce’s percussionist Marcie Chapa on others.
In an exclusive chat with olorisupergal.com, Bez disclosed that he named the album ‘Gbagyl Child’ because he wanted to create something more african,
” I was looking for a way to do it without being fake so I went to my village in Nasarawa State where I got inspired by the local drummers and because of this I was able to create music that inspired me” he added
“Gbagyl is my tribe, that is who I am, so I named the album Gbagyl Child just to say that this is where the inspiration started from”
