Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri has said Chelsea are in trouble after striker Olivier Giroud became the latest Chelsea player to succumb to injury.
The 32 year-old left Selhurst Park in the 76th minutes on crutches after sustaining what looks like a knee injury.
Chelsea came into the game also unable to call on the services of Cesc Fabregas or Ruben Loftus-Cheek who are also sidelined with injuries.
Speaking after the game, the former Napoli coach said:
“The problem is his ankle,” Sarri said of Giroud. I don’t the severity at the moment. We have to wait for tomorrow. Later in the evening I will see the doctor for the first result.
“In the last two days I think we were a bit unlucky. Yesterday in 10 minutes we had three injuries, Fabregas, Loftus-Cheek and [Danny] Drinkwater. Today Giroud. Then we were without Pedro and [Callum] Hudson-Odoi.
“Now we are in trouble because in January we have to play every three days.”
Chelsea ended the game and the year on a winning note though as Kante’s 51st minute goal was enough to see off Crystal Palace.
