Lanre Hassan popularly known as Iya Awero is a Nollywood veteran who has acted in over 250 movies from Drama to TV Series to Home videos etc.
She hails from Lagos Island (Enuowa) and has traversed the whole arena of Nigerian theatre like a colossus, that she is. She picked up acting while she was in St. Peters School in Lagos. Indeed, it was the concert party which she formed in collaboration with a few other friends in the school, that metamorphosed into the popular Ojo Ladipo concert party which was led by the late Ojo Ladipo (Baba Mero).
She was very much influenced by Mr. Olode who taught her drama at the school of Drama in Lagos. She also recalls how she related in the field of drama with her classmate, the late Mr. Afolabi Afolayan, popularly known as Ade Love, an actor of great repute.
Mama Awero has really made significant contributions to acting in Nigeria and, as a role model, she would like to advise intending actors and actresses that the field offers tremendous opportunities but they would have to work very hard and keep close to God, in order to make the desired impact. She confesses that she really enjoy she role in ‘Dear mother’, a soap opera on T.V.
Mama Awero is happily married and blessed with children.
