The administration of the University of Lagos, UNILAG, has removed itself from an indicated dress code issued to students.
The Deputy Registrar, Information, University of Lagos, Prof. Toyin Adebule, said this in an announcement on Thursday.
In an update indicated to have radiated from the university on Tuesday, it was claimed that the university had issued another dress code for students, including that indecent dressing did not ‘mirror the earnestness, respect and character-forming nature of scholarly students’.
The report, distributed in a day by day daily paper and guaranteed that the university had banned tight-fitting garments and additionally smaller than expected skirts and dresses, among others.
“Students ought to keep up a perfect and very much tended to appearance in all settings on grounds. Wearing of tight, strapless and uncovering clothes, or clothes whose lengths are over the knees are improper,” it said.
In any case, the university on Thursday said that it didn’t endorse another dress code for students. While saying that it urges students to dress decently, Adebule asked people in general to disapprove the report.
He stated, “The University of Lagos wishes to illuminate the overall population that it has not endorsed or executed any new dress code for its students. The overall population is thus encouraged to disapprove any crusade in the print, electronic or online networking asserting that the University of Lagos has presented another dress code. Every single such claim are false and don’t radiate from the university.
