Ajax stunned Tottenham 1-0 in London to take home all three points and the advantage in the first leg of their semi-final on Tuesday.
Van de Beek’s opener on 15 minutes was enough to win the game for the impressive Dutch team, who are now surely the favorite to qualify for the final of the champions league.
The North London club were without Kane and Son and lost Vertorghen to injury, but were dominated in the first half.
The home team improved after the break but the damage had been done as they couldn’t muster a comeback despite their efforts.
Ajax could have even had more goals as they hit the post 10 minutes from time
They should fancy their chances at the Johan Cruyff Arena for the second leg next week after another courageous performance away from home. Despite the team’s tender age, they have won away to Real Madrid, Juventus and now Tottenham.
Spurs started on the backfoot and were happy to sit deep and counter-attack. The plan was in jeopardy after Hakim Ziyech’s through ball picked out midfielder Van de Beek who slotted the ball into the far corner.
