Gone too far news, Halloween has elevated to a new darkness this year.
It wasn’t long ago when Trayvon supporters took to the streets in rally of the injustice ruling to free Zimmerman. That day still lingers in the hearts of many, but as for others, this horrific case is being mocked through insensitive Halloween costumes.
Over the weekend on October 26, two white teens dressed up as George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin. William Filene wore a blackface and a bloodstained hoodie to depict Trayvon Martin, while his friend, George Cimeno, wore a “Neighborhood Watch” t-shirt and made a gun sign with his fingers to illustrate gunman, George Zimmerman. Apparently, the duo didn’t find their costumes of choice remotely offensive, as they took to Twitter to dismiss the controversy as a mere joke.
