Serena Williams continued her dominance of female tennis yesterday as she thumped her sister Venus Williams in straight sets of 6-4, 6-3.
The clash of the Williams sisters was billed as one of the matches to look forward to in this year’s Wimbledon and it’s not without reason. The Williams sisters have won 16 Wimbledon titles between them, eclipsing any other female tennis player at the grand slam event.
It’s a continuation of an excellent year for World number 1 Serena Williams as it keeps her hopes of a “Serena Slam” alive as she moves into the quarter finals of Wimbledon. The Serena slam refers to winning the four tennis majors in a calendar year; US Open, Wimbledon, Australian Open, and French Open.
Having already won the Australia and French Open and advancing to the Quarter final of the Wimbledon tournament, it just might be the year for the Serena slam!
