Some suicide bombers killed six in an early morning attack on a Mosque in Maiduguri today. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) also said that 17 others sustained injuries and have been taken to a hospital.
This marks the sixth time this month that Maiduguri has been hit by suicide bombers, underscoring concerns about the safety of civilians from Boko Haram Islamist Extremists.
NEMA said the latest strike “was carried out by a suspected lone suicide bomber whose two accomplices escaped, when some vigilant members of the community accosted them”.
This bombing attack is coming after recent attacks in neighbouring states and the nation’s capital city Abuja. It also brings to question the level of security in the protection of urban areas.
