Golden Eaglets captain, Kelechi Nwakali who led Nigeria to defend the FIFA U17 World Cup trophy in Chile 2015 and the tournament’s top scorer Victor Osimhen have been mentioned in interest shown by English Premier League clubs.
Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Liverpool have all shown strong interest to have these youngsters at their respective clubs.
According to the Mail, Tottenham have asked for Victor Osimhen who has so far scored 51 goals in 78 matches for the Golden Eaglets in all competitions and friendlies he has played in.
Osimhen scored in all the matches at the World Cup where he notched ten goals and set a new record. Both Ivory Coast Souleymane Coulibaly and France Florent Sinama Pongolle set the tournament’s previous record of nine goals in 2001 and 2011.
Kelechi Nwakali who won the golden ball award for the best player of the tournament churn out some impressive displays scoring three goals and setting up another three on the way to lifting the trophy.
Kelechi Nwakali may follow the step of Manchester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho who won the best player at the 2013 FIFA World Cup held in UAE and went on to pull massive interest from a list of top clubs before he decided to join Manchester City.
Though Nigeria has now won the FIFA U17 World Cup a record five times but the Super Eagles have struggled to perform at the senior men’s World Cup.
