Power Generation has dropped by an estimated 1,100 Megawatts as the Egbin Power station shut down today.
The Egbin Power station generates 1,320 Megawatts of electricity at full capacity and it’s shut down today is already being felt in parts of the nation.
Reports indicate that the shut down was triggered by protesting ex workers of the now defunct PHCN who claimed that the management of the power station had brought hoodlums to kick them out of the Egbin housing estate.
A protest ensued during which an object was thrown into the power state causing equipment to trip off.
It is unclear how long the shut down will persist.
