World Cup winner, Pogba has criticized the way Manchester United set up in the draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
Former Manager, Sir Alex Ferguson was in attendance after undergoing brain surgery, but Mourinho’s men were unable to live up to expectations and lost more grounds to the leading packs in the league.
After the game, Pogba gave his opinion on what he thought the problem was.
“We are at home and we should play much better against Wolves. We are here to attack,” Pogba intimated.
“When we play like (that) it’s easier for us.” He said further.
Pogba and Mourinho have been having a hot and cold relationship for a while, and while recent quotes and results seems to have cooled the relationship, Pogba’s latest quotes would have rekindled the animosity between the two men.
Asked what the problem was, he said: “I can’t tell you because I’m a player. It’s not me.”
Pogba who was bought for a then record fee of 89 million pounds from Juventus has yet to live up to expectations but his performance at the World cup further suggests the problem might lie in United’s approach to games and not the player.
He believes the team needs a variety of approach to games and not the pragmatic style Mourinho favors.
“Obviously we should show more options but I cannot say that because I’m a player.”
According to him, United lose their edge when they don’t attack.
“I think teams are scared when they see Manchester United attacking and attacking. That was our mistake,”
“Maybe the attitude should be better and we should play better because, again, we are at Old Trafford and we should just attack and press like we did against Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal last season.”
